During the last year such work has been carried out on 10 vessels including White Link vessels commuting between Portsmouth and Leamington and the Isle of White, and Condor sea cats operating between Weymouth and the Channel Islands.
These vessels are dry docked, often 2 in tandem, and inspected by White Link/Condor superintendents and Lloyds inspectorate to determine the scope of works, bearing in mind that the refurbishment window is generally limited to around a fortnight for commercial reasons. A typical scope of works would include power washing the outer bottom and either carrying out patch repairs to the anti-fouling coating or recoating in entirety depending on condition. Fast cats anti-fouling coating is typically silicone based. The superstructure would receive recoating where necessary and a full overcoating perhaps every 2 to 3 years.
