Our management and staff are fully versed in the security measures required to perform contracts on sensitive sites and we are fully conversant with the specialised requirements of these clients. All sections of the Tighe businesses work on MoD sites and again such contracts evidence the importance of our multi-disciplinary approach within the painting industry.
MOD & Government
Works for these clients has historically been the bedrock of the Tighe Group business and we continue to carry out large contracts on their premises.
Our presence at the Portsmouth Naval Base, carrying out blast cleaning and specialised coating applications to Surface Fleet warships, has been ongoing since 2002. The 2014 contract award for a further 5 years ensures our continuity on this very important contract until the end of 2018.
We have worked unceasingly for many Principal Contractors, at Catterick Garrison and neighbouring military establishments, since 1952. The recent contract win by Carillion/Amey for both this area, the housing contract and other areas promises uninterrupted service in providing the Ministry of Defence with value for money. Traditionally the painting requirements at Catterick, where we paint barrack blocks, stores, offices, workshops, mess rooms, kitchens, etc has been the domain of our Decorators, but recently we have gained contracts for the Industrial section at RAF Linton on Ouse and DST Leconfield, lining aviation fuel tanks and grit blasting and painting a corrugated steel listed cinema building respectively.
New clients in this sector include SDC at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford and Caledonian Modular on the RSME Milney project. The Shop Applied team also completed the blast cleaning and coating of the Bomber Command Memorial for SH Structures.
Councils feature regularly on our order book, both for Highways painting contracts and ofther Local Government buildings. Examples of the former include Maud Station Underpass for Aberdeenshire Council and Hollingwood Bridge for Derbyshire County Council. Examples of the latter include several projects for Scarborough Borough Council and Magistrates Courts throughout Yorkshire. Some of this work comes via mini-tender processes through Framework Agreements and some directly through competitive tender.
Many Highways structures have been blast cleaned and painting using our ISO 19A NHSS accreditation. Examples include Bigsweir Bridge for Gloucestershire County Council, Silver Jubilee Bridge at Runcorn via Balvac for West Halton Borough Council and various projects through Henry Boot for Sheffield City Council. Our factory blasting and coating facilities work for key Principal Contractors on new build Highways structures.
These include Briton Fabricators, Saferoad and SH Structures and contract examples include the A38 Merafield Road Bridge and Sundon Road Bridge, along with sign gantries covering the M1 Motorway Junctions 28 to 35, the A406 Iron Bridge and gantries on the M60 around Manchester.
