Since achieving the Achilles Link-Up, now RISQS, accreditation our turnover in this sector has substantially increased and now represents a large proportion of our workload. We have invested a great deal of time and cash resources into training and believe that we have a workforce and management team second to none in the industry.
Particularly pleasing is the number of new clients appearing in our order book for the first time and the new partnerships we are able to forge in this demanding sector, with all its inherent Health & Safety requirements. Our ability to provide a complete competitive package of both shop and site applied protective coatings, together with a dedicated team of highly skilled Decorators for that potentially elusive finishing touch is proving attractive to our clients.
Our strong ties with Amco and Osborne continue to bring contracts in this sector. As a result of our close collaboration with the former, we have carried out contracts for painting, scaffolding and encapsulation works to rail bridges in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire at Newhall Road in Sheffield, Apperley viaduct, Thorne Road bridge and Langworth viaduct. Clarkston Road bridge in Glasgow was also completed during the year.
Works undertaken for Osborne Rail include station painting at New Malden and a rail bridge at Stour, whilst contracts have just been awarded for station painting at Havant, Farnborough and Beaconsfield.
Contracts have also been completed for Balfour Beatty at Cathedral Street, Glasgow and in Nottingham. Inverness station was painted for Story Rail and Spence awarded the Company contracts for painting at Fenchurch Street and Hackney stations in London.
A new client, Alun Griffiths, has brought the opportunity to blast clean and paint 3 footbridges in north Wales. This contract was made possible because of our ability to amalgamate on-site and off-site work. Sections of the bridges were removed from site, transported to our factories in Doncaster and Scunthorpe for preparation and painting, and then returned to site. Remaining sections were treated on-site.
Our Shop Applied facilities continue to win work for new build Network Rail projects, including station canopies, rail, road and pedestrian bridge structures.
Current Network Rail orders being processed through our 3 factories include a footbridge for Gainsborough station for Britcon Engineering, Farringdon station for Bourne Steel, Moorgate station ticket hall roof for Dam Structures, and East Moor railway bridge and Harold Wood station for Briton Fabrications.
FES FM continue to use our Decorating company for station refurbishments on the East Coast Main Line. Painting to Doncaster station is almost complete and works have been priced for multiple stations in other areas of the country for this key client.
