Noteworthy accolades achieved relating to health and safety and significant contract awards across all sectors dominate our latest news.

Winning Work Across All Sectors

With a strong pipeline of work and a number of tenders ongoing, we look to the future with confidence.  Recent contract awards include:

  • Network Rail jobs with Murphy, Carillion, Osborne and Amco; we also welcome the return of Sisk Rail to our client list
  • Highways projects awarded by Costain, Kier, Jamestown and HS Carlsteel
  • Energy and petrochemical orders from OPA, BPA, Murphy and a new client, Stellba Hydro at Kielder Power Station
  • Decoration of 3 care homes from Beneficial Contracts and a new Cambridge hotel for RG Carter

Alongside our new contracts, we continue to receive a steady stream of work from regular clients such as FES, GFM, Tom Willoughby and Daubney.

Scunthorpe Factory Recognised as Leading UK Facility

Following our 3 year investment programme, the Scunthorpe factory has built a record order book - serving a range of clients including SH Structures, CF Struthers, PFP Services, Fussey, Fabricom, Britcon and Booth Industries.  New clients have been attracted to the refurbished premises, new equipment and ease of access - a combination which is currently unmatched in the industry.  We continue to support long-standing clients such as Briton Fabricators, Harrisons and Severfield, and have received new orders from Murphy (for Newbury station) and Hadee Engineering.

The next stage of our investment programme focuses on the Doncaster factory where we will undertake large-scale facility improvements during the remainder of 2017 and 2018.

Continued Investment in HSQ&E

We congratulate our Health & Safety team, led by H&S Director Sam Panter, for achieving another RoSPA Gold Award.  As Julia Small, RoSPA's Head of Awards & Events stated:

"The RoSPA awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and are held in high regard around the world.  To win one demonstrates an organisation's commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record.  Achieving the standard required is no mean feat."

Sam and his team work hard to instil a sense of personal responsibility for health and safety.  This was recognised by Connect Plus, who gave the Smart Safety Award to one of our supervisors, Grant Wills, for his proactive approach to improving safety in the Connect Plus community.

Accreditations renewed in the last few months include Builders Profile and Achilles UVDB Verify, in which we received 4 scores of 100% in the onsite assessment.  We have successfully passed our annual LRQA audit for renewal of our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, along with the transition audit for progression to ISO 9001:2015.  On a personal level, we continue to invest in staff training and congratulate Contracts Manager, Darren Hutton, on gaining ICorr Level 2 Paint Inspector certification.

Supporting the Community

The Jack Tighe Group has a proud history of sponsoring local sports teams - the latest of which is the Appleby Frodingham Colts junior football team.

Our recent community initiatives also include supporting the Messingham Show and Stars in the Community, and blast cleaning and painting a World War 2 Spitfire propeller free of charge for East Stockwith Parish Council.  The Council have written to thank all those involved in the project.
