The highlight of the last few weeks has been the award of another RoSPA Gold Award for Health and Safety. This means that we have now won 5 consecutive gold awards and, therefore, been awarded a RoSPA Gold Medal which is a tremendous achievement for our Health & Safety Director, Sam Panter, and his dedicated colleagues. Congratulations also to our team of Contracts Managers under our Contracts Director, Paul Wolstencroft, for their determination and professionalism in ensuring that our personnel work safely.

Since the last news item was published we have been audited by LRQA and Achilles UVDB Verify.  Both organisations have confirmed our ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, and UVDB Verify respectively.  In the latter we achieved a perfect 100% score in all sections of both the onsite assessment and the management system evaluation.

Staff role changes during this year include Martin Hillyard taking on the role of Group Chairman and the promotion of Lee Rhodes and Paul Cottam to the roles of Managing Director for all onsite and offsite works respectively.  Sam Panter has now been made Health & Safety Director of all Tighe Companies to reflect the importance we place on this facet of our operations.  Following the retirement of Phil Wood we congratulate Paul Key on his promotion to Workshop Manager, and we continue to augment our workforce with apprentices and trainees.

Our Training Centre continues to be busy, carrying out ICATS training for both internal and external candidates, as well as other relevant training for our own workforce.

Examples of recent contract awards across all sectors include:

  • Energy - Lednock and Moine pipelines and Erochty Scour for SSE and AJT Engineering, and new awards from Balfour Beatty at Hornsea
  • Petrochemical - Contracts at Gosport, Loch Striven and Campletown for OPA, and Tank 1 at Misterton for CLH
  • Highways - JC Decaux Trafford Arch, Manchester and Intake School footbridge for Doncaster Council
  • Rail - Several projects for Amco including Castlegreen, Friars Gate and Greenfield Lane, Hammersmith Bridge for Osborne and Slipe Lane for Briton Fabrications

  • Marine - Works on the new Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier
  • Ministry of Defence - New orders from Gelder at Bassingbourne and new works for Daubney and Tom Willoughby

We have grown our forward order book across all sectors so far this year and continue to view the future with confidence.  The levels of investment in our buildings, plant and equipment, together with emphasis on training our workforce show our commitment to the future of all Tighe Companies.
