All Companies within the Tighe Group hold ISO 14001 accreditation which is externally audited by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance. We make every effort to embed continual improvements to reduce environmental risk, minimise our carbon footprint and increase recycling.

The following elements are central to our environmental strategy:

  • Aspects and Impacts Register draws management attention to actions which have the potential to cause environmental harm. Once identified, we are able to take the necessary action to minimise any potential impact.
  • Waste Reduction Programme covers waste reduction on site, energy conservation and fuel efficiency, along with capital projects such as re-roofing and re-cladding our offices and workshops to conserve heat.
  • Waste Disposal Procedures ensure recycling is prioritised on all projects and in our offices; items we recycle include paint tins, swarf, wooden pallets, cardboard, paper and ink jet cartridges.

Environmental initiatives are led by our Environmental Manager who holds Tech CIWEM and Nebosh Environmental Management accreditations. As part of our sustainability drive, we encourage clients to make use of low VOC paint products and recyclable natural abrasive media, both of which reduce environmental impact.

We have developed mobile waste segregation units to enhance environmental performance. These units incorporate a bunded area for paint mixing and another for waste segregation. Containers are provided for paint, solvents, un-mixed two-pack paints, contaminated rags, rollers and used brushes. The rear of the unit contains a can crusher, in which we crush used paint tins to reduce the volume of waste.

The Foxhills factory has a 4MW biomass boiler system to control the climatic conditions within the factory as well as 0.80MW of solar panels on the roof which generates circa 80% of our electricity requirements.
