Tighe Group has been delivering decorating contracts for over 60 years, working across a range of sectors including defence, education, health, retail, leisure, housing and heritage. All works are carried out in line with our Customer Care Charter to ensure a positive experience for building users.
We have Approved Contractor status with over 50 organisations; we work directly with councils, universities, colleges and housing providers, while also supporting principal contractors with their painting packages.

Our operatives are CSCS certified, with many holding additional training such as asbestos awareness, MEWP and PASMA. We have maintained an apprenticeship scheme for many years and work with New College, Durham to advise on career paths in the decorating industry. All works are carried out in line with our current accreditations: ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, Achilles Building Confidence, CHAS Premier Plus and Constructionline Gold.

We are a long-established contractor in this sector, delivering new build and refurbishment projects such as:

  • New build hospital extensions (Simons and Kier)
  • Health Centre refurbishment contracts including Leeds LIFT, One Life Centres in Hartlepool, and Richardson Hospital in Barnard Castle (FES FM)
  • New build Neuro Orthopaedic Unit in Sheffield (NCS)
  • Works at various hospitals and care homes in North Yorkshire (Tom Willoughby)
  • New build 64 bed care home in Sleaford (Goldfinch Developments)
  • Decorating to Meridian House, Keighley for Bradford NHS Trust (F Parkinson)

Our teams decorate a range of workplaces, both as stand-alone projects and where we have existing links with clients through our industrial painting business. Projects include:

  • BAE Systems and Kier at HMNB Portsmouth
  • Phillips 66 and Associated Petroleum Terminals in Killingholme
  • British Steel in Scunthorpe for office and workshop redecoration
  • Mace and supply chain members at Battersea Power Station

Retail and leisure

Contracts in this sector require a high-quality finish and the flexibility to work around business operations. Previous works include:

Housing

Maintenance contracts for military bases make up a significant part of our housing business. We have had a presence at Catterick Garrison and the surrounding bases since the 1950s, where we redecorate all types of buildings including barracks, mess rooms, kitchens, workshops, stores, hangars, offices and ablution blocks. We have also completed housing contracts for Darlington Council, and projects for private companies such as Evans Rennie in Harrogate and GT Joinery in York.

Defence

As discussed above we have extensive experience of decorating works on military sites, including:

  • Catterick Garrison and Fulford Barracks
  • DST Leconfield, Vimy and Marne Barracks
  • Imphal and Strensall Barracks
  • Chicksands Barracks
  • RAF Henlow and RAF Bassingbourne

Local government

We carry out decorating works for local authorities, including Darlington and Scarborough Borough Councils, Durham County Council, North Tyneside Council and Richmond Town Council. Previous projects include schools, housing, leisure centres, care homes, industrial units and offices. Typically we operate under framework agreements, however, we have undertaken individual contracts such as street furniture redecoration for Redcar and Cleveland Council. We also carry out work on behalf of principal contractors, for example, decorating Jobcentre Plus buildings for Daubney, and completing various projects for Tom Willoughby under the NYCC Framework.

Heritage

Our skilled decorators undertake heritage projects; they deliver a high-quality finish while protecting the history of the building. Previous projects include:
