We begin this latest news item by wishing all our clients a happy and prosperous new year.

Across the Tighe businesses we are starting 2019 with very healthy order books and plenty of optimism following a satisfying 2018.

The main item of news at this time concerns our partnership with North Lindsey College and Correx (ICATS) to provide the UK’s first ever Industrial Coatings Applicator Apprenticeship. This is an 18 months trailblazer apprenticeship followed by a 12 months mentoring period before the apprentices can apply for a full ICATs card, including the blasting and spraying modules. We will be utilising our extensive facilities at Foxhills, Scunthorpe for the practical elements of the course.

Community projects have featured strongly since our latest news item and have included collecting Christmas presents for under-privileged children in conjunction with Viking FM, and sponsorship of 2 local junior football teams – Appleby Frodingham Under 14s and Bottesford Town Under 14s.

We also provide a sports field free of charge to the local community for junior sports use.

Marine works continue to provide a large proportion of our turnover and we have recently been carrying out painting works to one of the oldest vessels, HMS Warrior, and the most recent, HMS Queen Elizabeth, as well as continuing our contracts with BAE Systems at Portsmouth Naval Base and Govan.

New clients gained during the last quarter of 2018 include Geldof (oil storage tanks at Canvey Island, Iguana Developments, Hillcrest Structural and Harry Peers.

As usual, most of our workload comes from existing clients and we continue to receive substantial orders from Osborne, Amco, OPA and SSE for onsite works, whilst our 2 factories for offsite works are being kept very busy by Briton Fabricators, SH Structures, Britcon Engineering, CF Struthers and Fussey Engineering.

Major projects expected to provide us with work throughout 2019 include the BAE Systems contracts in Govan and Portsmouth, Dow Chemicals in Barry, Battersea Power Station, work for Murphy at the Bacton gas facility and our Highways contract with Osborne at Gade Valley viaudct on the M25.

Finally, we are pleased to have achieved the Constructionline Gold and the CHAS Premium Plus standards to add to our impressive accreditations covering the fields of Health, Safety, Quality and the Environment.

We also continue to hold Achilles FPAL, Building Confidence, UVDB Verify and TransQ RISQS, as well as ISO 9001 (including NHSS 19A), ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 to give our customers confidence in our capabilities across all sectors.
